In a heartwarming and impactful moment, an Uber driver recently reached the milestone of 5,000 rides in Prince George’s County, Maryland. This achievement led to an unexpected and powerful community event that included a phone call to Muhammad Ali’s former wife, resulting in her speaking at Potomac High School in Prince George’s County.

“The story began when the Uber driver, who works as a bodyguard for ‘The Greatest,’ Muhammad Ali’s former wife, met two local gentlemen during a ride: Jordan Murphy and Jahi Jones.” One invited the driver to his gym, where they discussed Ali’s legacy and the importance of mentorship. During their conversation, the driver called Ali’s former wife, and, to the surprise of everyone, she graciously spoke for over an hour, sharing stories, wisdom, and insight. This phone call led to a commitment from her to speak at a local school, Potomac High, to address the importance of Black history, bullying prevention, and condemning violence.

The event was a major success and was highlighted by a police motorcade escorting the group to the school. The former wife of Muhammad Ali shared powerful lessons with students, furthering her commitment to community outreach and positive youth development. She also donated autographed pictures of herself and Ali to the students, which were received with great enthusiasm.

This event resonates with the values and priorities of Governor Wes Moore and First Lady Dawn Moore, who have consistently focused on youth empowerment, addressing violence, and promoting community involvement. The gathering not only honored Muhammad Ali’s legacy but also created a platform for important conversations about social justice, mentorship, and community-building.
