Returning to SXSW with its second-annual Future of Music showcase, Rolling Stone promises a stellar lineup of artists who are poised to shape the soundscape of the coming years for a four night event from March 12 to 15 at ACL Live at the Moody Theater in Austin, Texas.
Presented by StockX, the Future of Music franchise honors the artists shaping the music of tomorrow — in all genres, all over the world. “It’s our commitment to bringing you what’s new, what’s next, and what’s moving the culture forward,” reads a statement from the event page on Rolling Stone’s website.
True Hollywood Talk attended last year’s Rolling Stone “Future of Music” event. Taking the stage at this year’s SXSW 2024 Rolling Stone event are Peso Pluma, Teezo Touchdown, Young Miko, Flo Milli, Uncle Waffles, Faye Webster, and many others.
“We’re thrilled to return to SXSW with this incredible line-up. The Future of Music showcase brings our pages to life and honors the artists shaping the music of tomorrow – in all genres, all over the world,” said Gus Wenner, CEO of Rolling Stone. This statement not only highlights the magazine’s commitment to music innovation but also its dedication to celebrating diversity in music genres and talents worldwide.
Reflecting on the success of the inaugural Future of Music showcase, which attracted 12,000 attendees and featured a roster of 24 artists, including notable names like Coco Jones and Chloe Bailey, it’s clear that this year’s event aims to elevate the experience even further. With a schedule that spreads across four days, each day offers a unique blend of performances that cater to a wide array of musical tastes:
- Tuesday, March 12, will see performances from Teezo Touchdown, Veeze, Lola Brooke, and Chase Shakur.
- Wednesday, March 13, showcases Peso Pluma, Young Miko, Kevin Kaarl, J Noa, and Pink Pablo.
- Thursday, March 14, features Preacher, Pheelz, Flo Milli, Uncle Waffles, Black Sherif, and Flyana Boss.
- The event concludes on Friday, March 15, with Faye Webster, Red Clay Strays, Scowl, Dylan Gossett, and Jackie Venson lighting up the stage.
In a significant nod towards supporting mental health initiatives within the music industry, Rolling Stone, in collaboration with Hi How Are You, will feature merchandise and the iconic mural by Daniel Johnston. This not only serves as a homage to the late artist’s legacy but also as a reminder of the importance of mental health awareness.
Furthermore, music enthusiasts are invited to explore the Future 25 list, a curated selection by Rolling Stone staff that highlights the artists deemed most influential for the future of music in 2024 and beyond. This year’s Future of Music at SXSW not only promises an unforgettable showcase of talent but also a glimpse into the evolving landscape of music, underlining Rolling Stone’s pivotal role in championing the next generation of artists.
