Actress and singer Sofia Carson and Honorary Oscar winner Diane Warren will be performing at this year’s Academy Awards. #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos has the scoop.
Carson will perform the Oscar-nominated song “Applause” from “Tell It like a Woman,” accompanied by world-renowned songwriter Diane Warren on piano, at the 95th Academy Awards, which are hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. The 95th annual Oscars will air live on ABC and broadcast outlets worldwide on Sunday, March 12, 2023.
“Applause,” with music and lyric by Diane Warren, is nominated for “Best Original Song.” This marked her 14th career Oscar nomination. This past November, Warren received an Honorary Award at the Academy’s Governors Awards, thus becoming the first songwriter to accomplish this feature. Warren is also an inductee of the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Carson is a multiplatinum recording artist, she released her self-titled debut album in 2022. Her film credits include “Purple Hearts,” which she also executive produced and wrote and performed the soundtrack, “Songbird,” “Feel the Beat,” the “Descendants” trilogy, and the upcoming film “Carry On.”
