Maurice Benard has honored the late Johnny Wactor by re-airing his MB “State of Mind” episode with him. #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos has the recap.

Wactor was known for portraying the role of Brando Corbin on the ABC daytime drama “General Hospital” for two years. Wactor was tragically killed on May 25th as a result of attempted catalytic converter theft in downtown Los Angeles.

“I was debating on whether to put on Johnny Wactor’s ‘State of Mind’,” Benard said. “As I re-watched it, there was no way I couldn’t put it up. We had such an incredible conversation,” Benard recalled.

“We talked about abuse, drinking, and a lot of different things,” Benard said. “Johnny reminded me of a Steve McQueen meets Paul Newman… he was such an honorable guy.”

“Johnny was such a nice guy, talented, and with quiet intensity. I used to have so much fun working with him. So, also as I watched it, I couldn’t believe that we couldn’t get the lighting right. Johnny didn’t care; it didn’t matter to him. As I watched it again, my lighting is not good, but he has a light around him… like a halo. I’m not joking. You can check it out. I’ve done over 350 interviews, I’ve never had that, which to me, means that it was meant to be somehow… for him to do my show, and to have that halo, and now he’s in heaven.”

“I love you buddy,” Benard said, fighting back tears.
