On Saturday, October 19, Greek Heritage Night took place at UBS Arena for New York Islanders hockey game. #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos has the recap.
It was reported that some of the proceeds would benefit the AHEPA Greece Wildfires Relief Fund, while Greek hockey fans showcased their Greek pride. In the Jumbotron, they were able to showcase Greek dancers dancing the Kalamatiano dance.
Burgerology USA owners and proud Greek-Americans Eddie and Georgia Galatoulas were in attendance, as was their whole family (John Galatoulas and Maria Milito). Particularly impressive about Burgerology USA is that it has its own stand at the UBS Arena. “We loved partnering with UBS Arena… this is a match made in heaven,” Georgia acknowledged.
“I am very excited to be celebrating Greek Night at UBS Arena and I am very proud. Go Greece,” Georgia exclaimed. “Zito H Ellada,” she added (as they would say in Greek).
In this New York Islanders vs. Montreal Canadiens hockey game, the Islanders won with a score of four to three (thanks to a shootout), and the venue erupted with applauses.
Overall, it was a great night for the New York Islanders, New York hockey fans, and the Greeks, and a win-win-win for all. Hopefully, this is a harbinger of more great cultural nights to come at UBS Arena.
One of the biggest surprises of the evening was when this #Powerjournalist was surprised with birthday cake and treats for his recent birthday (October 15th)… His shocked face said it all. He is not one to ever go speechless, but for the first time, he was speechless. “Thank you, Burgerology USA, and thank you New York Islanders,” this Powerjournalist expressed, effusively.
