Magicians and comedians Christopher Wayne and Adam Rose performed at Asylum NYC for an intimate group of fans. #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos has the scoop.

Co-creator Mike Tyler made the opening remarks and introduced Adam Rose as the “new guy” in the duo. Tyler left the remainder of the performance to the two gentlemen: Christopher and Adam.

It has it all: mentalism, a straitjacket demonstration, closeup magic, and other fun activities (deck of cards and ropes) with the crowd. There was a spontaneity about it. They encouraged audience participation and they interacted with the fans quite well, even with the shy ones (who were hesitant to come up on the stage with them).

It came with one caveat (that it is a Rated-R show), but nobody in the audience had an issue with that, and they handled themselves well.

The Verdict

Overall, the Naked Magician show at Asylum NYC was upbeat, a bit earthy/raunchy, but at the same time clever, hilarious, and entertaining. They had the Big Apple audience with them every step of the way, and their jokes were spot-on. Christopher Wayne commanded the stage for the entire duration.

Adam Rose did a great job (and one would never guess that this is his first official week performing this show live in New York; he felt like a seasoned pro, and blended in with co-star Christopher Wayne well). It is safe to say that Adam made both Christopher Wayne and Mike Tyler proud.

Magic is all about moving the audience on an emotional level, and they did just that. The Naked Magicians’ Asylum NYC set garnered 4.5 out of 5 stars, and it is highly recommended that one sees them perform live when they are in town. They will not be disappointed. Congratulations on a job well done.
