Lee Mauras, wrestler, athlete, father, and son, passed away tragically on October 6, 2024 in the Old Town neighborhood or Portland, Oregon. He was only 22 years old.

Greek dramatist Menander once said “whom the gods love, die young.” The Long Island community mourns the loss of Lee Mauras, who hails from Freeport. Lee was a dedicated father, who was passionate about wrestling, and someone who lit up every room he walked in.

Angela Ragione stated in a post of his GoFundMe page, “We are heartbroken to share that Lee Mauras, a loving father, son, brother and friend to many, was tragically taken from us. At just 22 years old, Lee’s life was cut short in an act of violence that has left our family shattered and searching for justice. My name is Angela and I am Lee’s girlfriend and mother to Lee Jr. I started this GoFundMe to help Lee’s father, Sergio Mauras, because we are all in pieces and he has a lot going on.”

“The funds raised will be used to pay for funeral costs including bringing him back home from Portland Oregon where he was studying in college and getting ready for his wrestling season. The help received will also be used to bring Lee’s brothers, Sebastian and Jovan home to attend the funeral and to also cover other costs associated with getting Lee Sr. resting peacefully,” the description elaborated.

“This is an immense financial strain as we were not prepared, nor did we ever imagine that something like this would ever happen. Any contribution, no matter how small, will help our family,” they acknowledged.

“Your donations will go directly towards lawyer fees, travel costs, and supporting his family through this heartbreaking journey. Please consider donating, sharing this page, and joining us in the fight for #JusticeForLeeMauras. We will not rest until justice is served,” the post added.
