Michael Andrew, who won the Olympic gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics for Team USA, expressed his gratitude for everyone who has been a part of his Olympic journey for Paris. #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos has the recap.
While he did not make the U.S. Olympic Team this year, unfortunately, he reflected on his journey and performances following the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Indianapolis, Indiana (that were held at the Lucas Oil Stadium). “There are days I feel truly proud of myself, and days where disappointment takes over,” he admitted in a post on social media.
“As an athlete, it’s devastating to be up one moment and completely off the next, but sometimes that’s the way sport is,” he noted. “I left trials with a heavy heart, but know this is an opportunity to grow and push harder than ever before.”
“At the end of it all, I’m so excited and proud to cheer on all of team USA at the Olympics and endlessly grateful for my team, sponsors, fans, friends, and family for standing in my corner through the highs and the lows,” he acknowledged.
“We keep building, and pushing- there’s more in me yet. #TeamMA,” he concluded.
William Arthur Ward once famously said, “Adversity causes some men to break; others to break records.” Hopefully, the sky is the limit for this bright and promising Olympian and world-renowned swimmer, and he will come back stronger than ever.
