Voy Pearson is Mister Nebraska in the 2024 Mister USA competition. He chatted with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos about his latest endeavors.
Mike Tyson once said: “I’m a dreamer. I have to dream and reach for the stars, and if I miss a star then I grab a handful of clouds.” This quote applies to Voy Pearson.
Mister USA 2024
“I am pretty excited about Mister USA,” he exclaimed. “At first, it was hard to believe. There is more depth to Mister USA than being super ripped and jacked, so I thought it would be really cool to represent Nebraska, especially since it’s in the middle of nowhere and there is not a lot of things going on here. Not many people are familiar with Nebraska so it will be cool to put Nebraska on the map, so I am excited for that because I grew up here my whole life.”
Mister USA is an American beauty pageant, which is held annually, and the winner goes on to represent the United States in the Mister Universe competition. It is a celebration of culture, diversity, beauty, intelligence and empowerment. They believe in the power of young leaders to make a difference in the world. It is not solely about outer beauty; it recognizes the inner beauty and intelligence of their contestants. It will be held on August 11, 2024 in Hollywood. The winner of Mister USA will subsequently represent USA at “Mister Universe” competition in mid-September.
Daily inspirations
On his daily motivations, he said, “I have a kid… and I think that sets me apart from many of the other Mister USA guys. Aside from trying to worry about my own self, I have another life to worry about. I have to be my best because he will see everything I do and he will imitate everything I do, whether it’s good or bad… so my son is a big motivator for me.”
“My son is the best part of my life,” he admitted. “I am also trying to be better than I used to be. For me, it’s about discipline over motivation. It is all about self-talk and how you talk to yourself, and I’ve realized that over the years.”
“Just being better and being stronger mentally is what motivates me,” he acknowledged. “I’ve come a long way over the past five years. Also, being stronger mentally has inspired me to keep working.”
Pearson on adversity making us stronger
Pearson is a firm believer that adversity makes you stronger. “That is why I like working out because it is like you are voluntarily making yourself face all this adversity… and we come back stronger,” he said.
Stage of his life
On the title of the current chapter of his life, Pearson said, “Self-discovery.” “I have an idea of what I want to do, and I want to expand in the areas of fitness and modeling,” he admitted. “It is definitely a big self-discovery situation I have going on.”
Success
Regarding his definition of the word success, Pearson said, “To me, success means being happy and stable with your family, and being able to spend time with them.”
Message that he wants to get across with Mister USA
On the message that Pearson wants to get across with Mister USA, he stated, “I just want people to know that they should believe in themselves more. It’s all in our perspective in how we look at life. Do what you enjoy, work hard, and make the best out of the circumstances that you can’t control. No matter what you are going through in life, you can come out of a negative situation.”
“You can come out on top of a negative situation, and you can make something positive out of it. Just don’t give up. Keep believing and keep trying, this way you can accomplish anything that you set your mind to,” he concluded.
