Brandon Cole Bailey is an internationally-recognized fashion model, actor, musician, content creator, and social influencer. He sat down and chatted with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos at Burgerology Midtown about his latest endeavors.
American author, speaker, and leader John C. Maxwell once said: “Dreams don’t work unless you do.” This quote applies to Brandon Cole Bailey.
“It feels amazing to be here at Burgerology. I love it here,” he exclaimed. “The food is absolutely delicious. I was here a few weeks ago for an event, and it was fabulous. The food is incredible and so are the cocktails.”
Daily motivations
On his daily motivations, he said, “I am inspired by continuing to grow, continuing to push, develop and adapt to new environments. I’ve been doing this since I was 15 years ago. It has been such a crazy journey. I started before social media was a thing but somehow, I was scouted because of social media because I was one of the first known people on Instagram with a huge following; that’s how I was scouted by my agent.”
Future plans
Regarding his future plans, he remarked, “I am working on a few things. My biggest goal right now is to get a hosting role on a TV show. That’s my ultimate goal… being the fabulous gay guy who has fabulous outfits.”
“For me, fashion has always been a part of my life,” he admitted. “What you do good in this world will come back to you. I’ve learned that time and time again. Every time I feel like I am being knocked down, it always ends up being even better. Something even bigger or better comes out of it. Remember that it takes time for things to develop, but when it happens, it happens, and it does so all at once, and you are very busy for a long period of time.”
In addition, he is the author of his autobiography “It’s Not Really Ken: Brandon Cole Bailey’s True Life Story: An Autobiography.” “Ironically enough, my whole career started as ‘It’s Really Ken’ and my whole online persona was ‘It’s Really Ken’,” he said.
Advice for young and aspiring entertainers
For young and aspiring entertainers, he encouraged them to “keep going.” “You can never stop,” he said. “Things are going to be constantly changing. Now, we are in the TikTok era. Ignore the naysayers. So, don’t quit!”
“I think showing positivity and happiness is what should be shown online on social media,” he acknowledged.
“It’s important to mostly share the positive things. Then, when there are struggling moments, those are when people are going to feel the most connected to you, and people will feel like they are not alone,” he explained.
Success
Bailey defined success as “being able to take care of himself and be comfortable.” “There were times when I was very successful and had a lot of money, and that put me in situations when I didn’t have a lot of money and lost everything. So, being comfortable and being able to help my friends and family, especially my mother, is success to me.”
“Success, to me, means not quitting and not giving us,” he added. “It’s all about perseverance. You keep going, and you can’t stop.”
