Levi Conely chatted with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos about competing for the inaugural 2024 Mister USA competition.
Conely is a fitness model, digital creator, social influencer, and bodybuilder. On competing for Mister USA, he said, “I am curious! I am actually preparing for a male bodybuilding show, and that is my main focus for this year. I’ve never tried pageantry before, so I am in it just to try it. I don’t know what to expect. I am nonchalant about it. I really feel that Mister USA could be exciting and helpful.”
“I would enjoy the competitive atmosphere. I would feel the pressure and the competition, and I want that,” he added.
Conely will be representing the District of Columbia. Mister USA is an American beauty pageant, which is held annually, and the winner goes on to represent the United States in the Mister Universe competition. It is a celebration of culture, diversity, beauty, intelligence and empowerment. They believe in the power of young leaders to make a difference in the world. It is not solely about outer beauty; it recognizes the inner beauty and intelligence of their contestants. It will be held on August 11, 2024 in Hollywood.
The winner of Mister USA will subsequently represent USA at “Mister Universe” on September 28, 2024 at The Biltmore in Los Angeles.
District of Columbia connection
On his connection to D.C., he said, “I was born here. From a multi-generational standpoint, my family comes from Maryland. It is really interesting. My family is unique in the sense that it is multi-generational. We’ve been here and people haven’t really ventured out that much. It is a pretty big family, but everyone is here pretty much.”
Daily motivations
Each day, he is motivated by “legacy.” “Legacy motivates me, and it gives me drive,” he said. “The idea of being bigger than myself, and that is interesting. What’s the point of life without challenging yourself? That’s how I view it. There is no purpose to living if you don’t challenge yourself to become the best at something or to find a competitive atmosphere for yourself.”
Future plans
On his future plans, he remarked, “My short-term plans are competing in a bodybuilding championship and having a clothing brand. My midterm goals are expansion of entrepreneurship and long-term goals are politics.”
The digital age
On being a part of the digital age, Conely said, “I am really blessed. In all honesty, I think that today is the best day to be alive no matter who you are or where you are from.”
Stage of his life
Regarding the title of the current chapter of his life, he said, “The Bodybuilding Arc.” “I’m transitioning from calling myself a model to bodybuilder or a fitness influencer, so it’s interesting,” he said.
Superpower of choice
His superpower of choice would be “teleportation.” “That would be great,” he admitted. “If I could anywhere in the world I want with the snap of my finger, it would be so fun.”
Best advice he was ever given
He noted that the best advice that he was ever given involved looking into stoicism and into stoic philosophy. “That calmed my fascination with studying about religion,” he said. “Stoicism is a chill and carefree mindset, and it’s really good for me because I feel like I needed it. Stoicism is about letting go, relaxing, and focusing on now.”
Success
On his definition of success, Conely said, “Success is finding what your passion is, finding something that you are good at, and doing that for work. Then, you walk in happy to do what you do for work each day, and that’s a beautiful thing.”
Fans and supporters
For his fans and supporters, he said, “I really appreciate everyone. It has been quite a journey for me. To have people actually care about what I have to do or say makes me feel nice. The support has showed me sides of the world that I hadn’t seen before, it helped me learn and it made me a better person over time.”
