Reality TV star Josh Seiter of “The Bachelorette” fame chatted with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos about coming out as bisexual after subsequently being hailed as an LGBTQ icon.
“Coming out as bisexual was the product of years of religious dogma and societal expectations crumbling beneath the power of my subconscious,” he acknowledged.” I couldn’t embrace who I truly was until I shirked off the layers of who I wasn’t. So it wasn’t just liberating, it was also necessary in order for me to continue to evolve and grow as a human. Think of a butterfly. It goes through stages before it can fully embrace its final form. That’s how I feel right now. It’s really indescribable.”
Seiter expressed his appreciation and gratitude from the public. “I’m extremely humbled by the positive messages and praise people are sending me. I personally don’t think I deserve the laudatory praise, but if my story can inspire, then I think that is wonderful. It’s nice that people seem to Identify with both my sexuality journey and my mental health journey,” he said.
On his future plans, Seiter shared, “My plans for the future are to continue headlining the ‘America’s Loverboys’ national tour and continue cultivating my position atop the digital content creation world.”
He also shared his insights about June, which is Pride Month. “For me, Pride month is an opportunity for those of us who have been silenced for so long to finally have the weight of years of conditioning lifted off our shoulders. It’s an opportunity to simply be human. And that’s very therapeutic,” he acknowledged.
Seiter concluded by expressing his gratitude to his fans and followers for all of their heartwarming support during this time. “I would like to thank my fans for supporting me in my journey, and I would like to tell all my followers that I love them and appreciate all their beautiful messages,” he said, effusively.
