Actor Jeremy Glazer of “Animal Kingdom” stars in “The High Life” comedy. #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos has the scoop.
Aside from Glazer as Billy Gold, it stars creator, writer, and director Stephanie Sanditz as Evie Gold, Amy Landecker (“Handmade’s Tale”) as Linda Gold, Jesse Garcia, Ron Perkins (“Spiderman”), Jonathan La Vallee( “Agent Carter,” “Shameless”), Linda Purl (“24,” “General Hospital,” and “Happy Days”) as Jane Gold, as well as Christopher Mychale Watson (“Seal Team”) as Jackson, among others.
Sanditz co-directed it with Amy French. Mary Rohlich, Shannon E. Riggs , Kimberly McCullough (“Pretty Little Liars,” “High School Musical,” and “General Hospital”), and Sanditz all served as executive producers.
“The High Life” follows an exceptionally neurotic, yet completely relatable family, when their wayward daughter moves back home and tries to find God out of her childhood bedroom. It is witty, lighthearted, clever, a little raunchy, but overall, entertaining and well-written.
The pilot follows the family forced to reunite upon the mysterious death request of their wealthy aunt, where everyone is forced to look at their life’s with a little more honesty, and no one is who they pretend to be. It is so eccentric, and the plot may be unconventional, but it works.
“The High Life” is a grounded comedy about faith and family in the face of crisis. It is based on a real-life, coed-naked family funeral; moreover, it has a plot twist that nobody will see coming. It is worth checking out.
