Isaiah Smith, RN, who is “Mr. California” in the 2024 Mister USA competition has shared his tips of such health and fitness topics as intermittent fasting, liquid calories, and getting in shape.

Intermittent fasting

Smith went on to define what “intermittent fasting” is and whether or not it works. Smith noted that it is a “window that you are allowed to eat” such as eating for eight hours with the other 16 hours fasting. “Honestly, it depends on your lifestyle. It is all about consistency,” he acknowledged. “If you are not consistent, it will lead to out of whack eating patterns.”

Liquid Calories

“Did you know a regular sized Gatorade has 34-36g of sugar?” Smith asked. “These sports drinks are beneficial when excessively losing electrolytes with intense workouts but to drink as a beverage throughout the day can be holding you back from your fitness goals,” he said in a post on Instagram.

Try these instead: Diet soda (0 calories), Sparkling Ice (five calories), Light Body Armor (20 to 25 calories), Prime (20-25 calories), Gatorade Zero (5 to 10 calories), Sugar-free energy drinks (typically 0 calories), Vitamin Water Zero (0 calories), Zevia (0 calories), Liquid IV (15 to 25 calories) and Olipop (25 to 40 calories).

“Incorporating these into your day to day will help you reach your fitness goal so much faster than full calorie alternatives,” Smith exclaimed.

Isaiah Smith offers three ways for people to get in shape, especially for those that ‘don’t have time’

If that weren’t enough, Smith offers three ways for people to get in shape, especially for those to “don’t have time.” “First, plan your work/responding to emails or messages/ creating schedules while walking incline on a treadmill,” he said. “These things can either be done sitting on a couch or a chair or you can get your steps in and move your body. Make the right choice.”

“Simply just moving more can be such a powerful tool in getting you closer and closer to your goal,” he said.

Second, get up 30 to 45 minutes earlier just three times a week for a 20 to 30 minute workout. “Anyone can do this if their goal is important enough and I promise you that each week you do this you will get closer to your goal,” he said.

“Those days you miss out on a little bit of extra sleep will be a bit harder, yes. But you will feel more accomplished than ever seeing yourself make the effort to achieving what you believe you deserve,” he added. πŸ’ͺ🏻

Smith remarked, “There are plenty of healthy meal prep services that will save you tons of time by eliminating the time cooking and the time cleaning so you can just focus on hitting your nutrition goals with no clean up or prep! @flexpromealsΒ is an amazing option for both me and my clients at SmithFit to meet our goals.”
