Grammy-nominated songwriter Amandi Brown chatted about his music career, and 200-pound weight loss.

How did it feel to land a Grammy nomination?

Being considered for the highest honor in music was an incredible experience, especially alongside a group of individuals I deeply respect—Surefire Music Group (Nef, Brady, Sterling, and the late Jared Hancock, R.I.P.). We’ve worked tirelessly to build a catalog of music while fostering camaraderie and brotherhood. It’s a blessing that many never get to experience, yet it’s the ultimate goal for those aspiring to write and produce at a high level. What made it even more validating was knowing that my dedication, grit, and purpose were aligning in a way that put me in a position for the world to recognize the gifts God has given me.

Congrats on the 200-pound weight loss? How did that feel?

Thank you so much. Overcoming such a significant challenge in my life was truly an incredible journey. Like many, I struggled with weight gain throughout adulthood and once felt like I had reached a point of no return. However, by taking it one step at a time—or, as I like to say, crawling towards my goals daily—I was able to achieve better health and wellness.

This transformation wasn’t just about shedding physical weight but also about releasing nearly 200 pounds of emotional weight. Through healing my mind and spirit, with yoga as a foundation, I found balance and clarity.

What motivates you each day?

My daily motivation comes from knowing that I’m operating within my purpose. I don’t always feel like doing what’s best, but my discipline and commitment to living a better life keep me focused, even on the hardest days. My family plays a huge role in that motivation—I want to be around for them as long as possible, in my best self, creating memories and making an impact not only in their lives but also in the lives of families worldwide.

What do your plans for the future?

My future plans revolve around growing C.R.A.W.L.—a community I created, which stands for Conquer, Restore, Ascend, Win, Live. The goal is to support creatives and artists struggling with the mental blocks that often come with pursuing their passions. While deep personal growth happens in isolation, that doesn’t mean people have to go through it alone.

Many are searching for support, feeling like they’re the only ones facing these struggles. Through the C.R.A.W.L. framework, I aim to help others the way I’ve found freedom—by offering guidance, encouragement, and a sense of community.

Were there any moments in your life or career that have helped define you?

Life after a Grammy nomination can be confusing. You expect that level of recognition to bring in more opportunities, work, or financial gain, but timing and circumstances don’t always align that way. The music industry constantly evolves, requiring you to pivot, adapt, and reinvent yourself. I’ve learned to invest in others and their musical journeys, ensuring that even if my gifts don’t land where I originally envisioned, they can still serve a greater purpose in helping others build their dreams.

What is your advice for young and aspiring musicians and songwriters?

My best advice to young musicians and artists is to listen with ears for inspiration, not for imitation. Your individuality—your unique reimagining of what’s been done before—is what will shape the future of music and beyond. If you ever feel lost or uncertain, focus on sharpening the skills you know are your strengths. No time is wasted in the journey of becoming the artist you’re meant to be. Whether good, bad, or challenging, stay encouraged. Even when motivation fades, stay committed to your destiny over your feelings in the moment.

What does the word success mean to you?

To me, success is the ability to work within your purpose every day. Many people don’t have the privilege of doing work they truly love, so if you’re able to do that in any area of your life, that’s success. It’s not about accolades, titles, or material achievements—it’s about peace of mind and the deep awareness that your work is making a positive impact on the world.

What would you like to say to your fans?

To everyone who loves and supports Amandi Music and has followed my journey in both music and wellness, I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart. There’s so much new music on the way with my production team, The Vessels. I also encourage you to prioritize any form of wellness that allows you to slow down and disconnect from this fast-paced world. Become aware of your breath—because as long as you have breath, you have life. Don’t stress about your next move; just focus on your next breath. Don’t walk, CRAWL.
