Diane Warren to enter Oscar ‘Original Song’ race with ‘The Journey’ by H.E.R.

Honorary Academy Award winner Diane Warren will be entering the “Best Original Song” race this year with “The Journey,” her collaboration with H.E.R. #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos has the scoop.

Will this be her Sweet 16th Oscar nomination? Odds are in her favor! This is one of the greatest compositions in Warren’s illustrious music career.

“The Journey” will be featured in the Tyler Perry war drama, “The Six Triple Eight,” which stars Kerry Washington.

Netflix is bound to be pleased with this empowering song for this important film. The streaming service is set to release “The Six Triple Eight,” which tells the inspiring true story of the first and only all-Black Women’s Army Corps unit stationed overseas during World War II.

The synopsis is” The 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion contributed to the war by sorting through a three-year backlog of undelivered mail and delivering it to American soldiers far from home. In the face of discrimination and a vast, unfamiliar country divided by global conflict, these 855 women brought hope to the front lines.

A few months ago, Warren was honored with the Johnny Mercer Award, which is the highest honor bestowed by the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

In 2023, Warren was bestowed an Honorary Oscar, presented by Cher, where she was recognized for her “genius, generosity and passionate commitment to the power of song in film.”
