Derek Yates made his “Days of Our Lives” debut on the streaming service Peacock as Kerry. #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos has the scoop.

Judging from his first episode on the sudser, Yates already seems to have great chemistry with his on-screen acting partner, Emmy winner Greg Rikaart, who plays Leo Stark, and Yates proves that there is more to his mysterious character than what meets the eye. Hopefully, this is a harbinger of more good scenes and drama to come from Yates and Stark’s characters on the show.

In a video message to his fans and followers on social media, he remarked, “”Hey, what’s up ‘Days’ fans? I am Derek Yates being introduced into the world of Salem as Kerry. I am coming in to be one of Leo’s many suitors, a little rotation of guys, if you will. We will see where that leads us.”

This is not his first time on a soap opera though. According to his IMDb page, he is credited as playing a waiter in an episode of the ABC daytime drama “General Hospital.”

Previously, Yates is known for his portrayal of Rando in the Hulu sitcom series “How I Met Your Father” among others. Yates was involved in “American Born Chinese” on the streaming service Disney+, which starred Academy Award winners winners Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan and Academy Award nominee Stephanie Hsu.

In addition, Yates has a strong familial connection to advocacy and purpose. He serves as a co-founder of the nonprofit 1N3 with his mother, Tiki Finlayson, after the tragic family loss of his brother, Kevin Yates.

Yates is involved with Project Angel Food where he has volunteered, helped fundraise for, and brought more social awareness for this nonprofit that’s feeding the critically ill in Los Angeles, thus showcasing his commitment to charitable causes off-camera.
