Colton Holland chatted with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos about competing in the 2025 Mister USA competition.
Margaret Mead once said: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” This quote applies to Colton Holland, age 19.
“I am a lot of younger than most contestants,” he said with a sweet laugh. “I am guessing I am one of the younger people.”
Mister USA pageant
Mister USA is an American beauty pageant, which is held annually, and the winner goes on to represent the United States in the Mister Universe competition. It is a celebration of culture, diversity, beauty, intelligence and empowerment. They believe in the power of young leaders to make a difference in the world. It is not solely about outer beauty; it recognizes the inner beauty and intelligence of their contestants.
On competing for Mister USA, he said, “It feels pretty crazy. I didn’t think this would be happening. I can’t wait; I am excited.”
Representing Maine
“To be representing the state of Maine feels pretty good,” he admitted. “Maine is where I was raised, and I knew this state would mean a lot to my mom who is still in Maine along with all my family members.”
Daily motivations
On his daily motivations, he shared, “It is hard to pinpoint one thing. My whole mindset is about being the best version of myself as possible. So, I am waking up each day asking myself ‘how can I make progress each day?’ I actually have that tattooed on me in Japanese; it represents the mindset of improving by one percent every single day.”
Holland used to be an online fitness trainer but now he leads a virtual sales team in the financial service space. “That’s what I do for my business,” he admitted.
Future plans
Regarding his future plans, he shared, “Right now, in the next year or so, my main is to scale my team, have better agent success and get them all more profitable.”
“Within the next year, I would like to scale my monthly personal income from the business, and build up my own office. Also, I would like to do well in Mister USA and hopefully, finish in the Top 3,” he added.
The digital age
On being a part of the digital age, he noted, “With the digital age, you can impact people from all over the world from anywhere.”

Importance of mental health in the digital age
Holland underscored the importance of mental health in the digital age, especially for men. “That’s something I struggled with growing up. I did not get the support I needed at the time, and I don’t think anyone should have to deal with that.”
Career-defining moments
On his career-defining moments, he revealed, “About two months ago, I dropped out of college, and that went completely against every social norm in my family. They were blown away when they heard that decision, but I knew it was right for me. So, I left and went all in, and it paid off. Last month, I had a record month, and I really established myself in this space. This was the biggest turning for me that I could actually recognize.”
Advice for people that wish to go into witness or finance
For people that wish to go into fitness or finance, they should “Just start.” “So many people are so worried about getting the perfect diet or the perfect workout routine but the best thing they can do is step in the door of the gym.”
“You don’t have to do everything perfect or have the perfect form, you can get there in increments. Really make that commitment and take those steps to make that happen. That is what is going to lead to success no matter what the area is,” he noted.
Stage of his life
On the title of the current chapter of his life, Holland said, “The Comeup” or “The Establishment of Myself.”
“I am really putting myself out there and I am really taking a lot of big leaps,” he said. “I am bridging myself from where I am to where I want to be.”
Superpower of choice
His superpower of choice would be “to see the future” or “be able to change the past.” “In particular, seeing the past can help me do a lot of cool things,” he said.
Success
Regarding his definition of the word success, Holland said, “Success means freedom.” “Also, being able to bring the people I love along with me to the top is success,” he said. “The more people you can bring with you, the better.”
Message for his fans and supporters
For his fans and followers, he said, “To the fans that have been there with me since day one, thank you for the constant support. It baffles me how many twists and turns they have been through, and they have stuck around through all the different changes in life.”
“The fans were able to connect with me deep down, and I appreciate that at the deepest level,” he concluded.
