Angelo Souza is a man of many talents. He chatted with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos about his latest endeavors, which include starting his own company, Spicy Papis, in Melbourne, Australia.

He is a content creator, performer, athlete, entrepreneur, fitness professional, and a new business owner.

Originally from Chile, Souza shared that he enjoys doing acrobatics. “I like doing acrobatics and being an aerialist,” he said. “I’ve been doing that for most of my life.”

“I am hoping that 2024 will be the year that Spicy Papis will take off,” he said.

Idea to start his own company

Souza shared that his new company Spicy Papis in Melbourne depicts the Latin culture. “It is made up of people from overseas. We all have pride about coming from different backgrounds.”

“We started building this multi-cultural crew called Spicy Papis, especially because Australia is such a multi-cultural country. Every culture has some spiciness to it. My company is unique, spicy and cheeky,” he admitted. “There is no other way to call the Latin culture but spicy. Latin culture spices up every other environment. This is why I called my company ‘Spicy Papis’ and I am running it,” he said.

“My goal is to build something strong,” he said. “I’m building a foundation and recruiting strong guys with strong backgrounds. That is what makes Spicy Papis different. It has been running really smoothly.”

The digital age

On being a part of the digital age, he said, “We are currently working on the website. We are creating a lot of content with professional photographers and videographers. Everything will be high-quality. I want to take care of my crew members, and I want them to feel like it’s a family atmosphere.”

Advice for young and aspiring performers

For young and aspiring performers, he said, “Everyone has something to give. I’m not a professional dancer but I feel the passion. I have the fire inside and I want to show my culture to everyone. As Latinos, we grew up dancing. Just look inside yourself and find what is special and unique about yourself. You need to find that our yourself. That’s my suggestion. Find what fulfills you and then give it to the audience. Being unique is what is going to help you stand out.”

“A lot of people have a lot of charisma and they need to love themselves and recognize that they have something special inside of them,” he added.

Stage of his life

On the title of the current chapter of his life, Souza said, “Learning.” “I am actually learning,” he admitted. “When I was 26 years old, I thought I was a king, and that there was nothing to learn anymore. So, I started traveling the world and my country of Chile numerous times. When you fall from the top, it hits you really hard, and that’s a learning experience. From 26 until now, I’ve been learning nonstop.”

“Ever since I moved to Australia four years ago, I started studying again,” he said. “I’ve been learning a lot of new and interesting things. I would improve myself and my skills. I came to Australia without knowing English, so I had to teach myself that. When I moved here, the culture hit me so hard, especially the Australian accent was extremely hard for me to understand, and that pushed me to start improving my language skills, and learning the culture, and falling in love with the Australian culture. I am still in the process of learning.”

“I am studying nutrition right now, where I want to be a nutritionist,” he said. “I have this passion for helping people and improving their lives. I want to help people in different ways so I would love to do to paramedic school to become an EMT/paramedic. It’s going to take time, but it will definitely want to impact people’s lives in positive ways.”

“Presently, I am working in a gym as a personal trainer and helping people in that way, while also studying to become a nutritionist. I am also working on online content and working on my website, at the moment. I want to help guys, especially those from overseas. If somebody has attitude and charisma, they are good to go. I want to help international students and I am focusing on people with strong backgrounds. Australia has people from so many backgrounds, and I would like to help the ones that have come from other countries.”

Success

On his definition of the word success, he said, “Fulfilling your life with things that make you happy. Having good relationships with others and helping people that make you feel fulfilled. That’s a win for me. Being able to accomplish my daily small goals in life even if that means studying two hours a day, that’s a win for me.”

Message for his fans and supporters

For his fans and supporters, Souza said, “When people tell me that they look up to me and feel inspired by me, or that they are proud of me, that is success,” he admitted. “When the people in your close circle love you, then I feel very successful. It is not about material things; it is about achieving little goals each day.”
