AUSTIN, Texas — With Thursday’s exciting announcement that Austin City Limits (ACL Fest) would be returning to Zilker Park after its 2020 cancellation and conversion to an all-virtual event, Texans are excited to see headlining artists like George Strait, Black Pumas, and Megan Thee Stallion take the stage.
ACL Fest, which is set to take place in October, for two back-to-back weekends, announced its lineup on Thursday, which includes the Country Music Hal of Famer, George Strait. While the day-to-day schedule has not yet been announced, Strait, along with many other artists on ACL Fest’s official poster, is listed as Oct. 1-3 and Oct. 8-10, with no official date yet.
This marks the very first time Strait has ever played ACL Fest, according to the Austin American-Statesman. Strait’s touring schedule includes his recent announcement that he would be playing the 2022 Rodeo Houston, along with a pair of shows in Las Vegas in August.
Beginning in 2002 as a one-weekend only festival, ACL evolved into a two-weekend festival the following year in 2013.
Other country artists who will be performing at ACL Fest includes, but is not limited to California-raised singer Jon Pardi, Tanya Tucker, Cam, and Asleep at the Wheel. Also headlining the event is Billie Eilish, Stevie Nicks, Miley Cyrus, Rufus Du Sol, DaBaby, and Erykah Badu.
Both Cyrus and Strait are hitting the live-event arena hard this year, with Cyrus also agreeing to headline Lollapalooza 2021 in Chicago.
