The new Netflix show about an unusual young girl,  that helps find a missing boy, won the Producer’s Guild Award for Episodic Television, Drama.  This marks a major victory for the online entertainment company, that has moved to become a major power in programming.  In 2014 a number of media outlets reported that Netflix was worth billions more than HBO.

La La Land, the modern version of the theatrical musical about the struggle of two artists in Los Angeles won in the Theatrical Motion Picture category.

Early in the show Kathryn Bigelow presented Megan Ellison with the Visionary Award.  In just a few short years Ellison has made a name for herself in Hollywood producing over 30 major movies including Foxcatcher, American Hustler, Her, Terminator Genisys, Sausage Party and Zero Dark Thirty.  Many of these movies went on to win many awards.

James L. Brooks garnered the Lifetime Achievement award.  During his acceptance speech he paid tribute and praise to Mary Tyler Moore.  Robert Deniro and Martin Scorsese presented Irwin Winkler with the David O. Selznick Award.
