Cole Hafer chatted with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos about representing Pennsylvania in the 2025 Mister USA competition.
2025 Mister USA pageant
This July, Hafer will be representing the state of Pennsylvania in the 2025 Mister USA competition.
Mister USA is an American beauty pageant, which is held annually, and the winner goes on to represent the United States in the Mister Universe competition. It is a celebration of culture, diversity, beauty, intelligence and empowerment.
It believes in the power of young leaders to make a difference in the world. It is not solely about outer beauty; it recognizes the inner beauty and intelligence of their contestants.
On being a part of the 2025 Mister USA competition, he exclaimed, “I love it; it’s awesome. Honestly, it was unexpected. I’ve characterized my life by anything that comes my way, so I take things headfirst because you need to live life. That’s the attitude I’m taking.”
Representing Pennsylvania
“I am from Florida but my parents are from Pennsylvania, and technically, my roots are from there,” Hafer said. “My parents grew up in a town a little bit north from Freeport. It’s a very small town up there. The food up north is really good.”
Dyeislife company
“I work for a social media company Dyeislife that is surrounded by colleges,” he said. “I go to a lot of colleges… I’ve been to over 50 colleges. It has been fun; it has been a good time. It is definitely very tiring and stressful but I really enjoy it.”
On his daily motivations, he said, “It’s a combination of two things. First, making my parents proud because they did such a good job raising me. My second motivation is being able to look at myself at the end of my life and thinking that I gave 100 percent of what I possibly could, and I didn’t settle for anything less than what I had potential for. That would be my daily motivation.”
Advocacy for Mister USA
Hafer opened up about his advocacy for Mister USA. “I would definitely want to raise awareness on men’s mental health,” he said.
“Society these days, especially with social media, has been distorted,” he noted. “I think it has taken a toll on men, and that is something important that needs to be addressed more, and we need to be there for each other as men.”

Future plans
Regarding his future plans, he shared, “I am really hoping to grow the company that I work for, Dyeislife, I want to make it as big as possible. I have some projects alongside with that, and to be honest, I am putting a lot of time into that right now. That is what I am hoping for the future, but at the same time, I did start running this company at 22 years old because I understand that I can take risks at this age, and if it doesn’t work out, I can still choose a different path, obviously.”
“As of right now, I really want to grow that company, and just improve myself physically and mentally. Those are the two things that I have been focusing on,” he added.
Defining moments
On his defining moments, he stated, “Being an outcast growing up helped define me. That put a chip on my shoulder wanting to be as best as I can, and to improve myself. I think if I wasn’t an outcast growing up, I would have had a different mentality going about how I do things, and to ensure that everything is as good as possible.”
Stage of his life
Regarding the title of the current chapter of his life, he revealed, “In Focus.”
Superpower of choice
When asked about his superpower of choice, he responded, “It would be to be able to reverse time, so that you can take the mistakes you’ve made, learn from them, and rewind time, and then fix them.”
Success
On his definition of the word success, Hafer said, “Success means being able to look at myself and know that I did everything in my power, mentally and physically, to work on whatever jobs I’ve had in front of me. If you give 100 percent of your effort to something, I don’t think you fail.”
Closing thoughts
Hafer remarked, “I want people to understand that now, in this day and age of social media, you can easily connect with people so you can really break the mold of the traditional lifestyle and you can do what you want and be free doing that.”
“I think that’s what people need to do more often, especially if they have an idea and they are too scared to do it. They just need to do it regardless,” he concluded.
