Shyllon Melatti sat down and chatted with this journalist prior to his show with The Chippendales at The Paramount in Huntington on Sunday, April 13th.

The Paramount show
On performing at The Paramount, Shyllon exclaimed, “It feels great. We were here last year, so it is nostalgic coming back. It’s nice to be in New York again.”
On the Chippendales show at this Long Island venue, he said, “There are a lot of new numbers, and we have new guys in the show as well. While there are new faces, they all have the same energy, so we are super excited to show everybody what we have been coming up with over the past 12 months. The Paramount is going to be great!”

Daily motivations
On his daily motivations as a performer, Shyllon said, “Honestly, I think it is the group of guys that I perform with. That’s the best thing. There is really a fraternal bond with all of us, and we are kind of like brothers, and we treat each other as such. So, honestly, they are my biggest motivators.”
Future plans
Regarding his future plans, he shared, “I am trying to figure out what the next thing is for me. I’ve been Chippendales for six years now. I would love to see where my career takes me next.”

Career-defining moments
On his career-defining moments, he revealed, “Funnily enough, the tour has defined me. It’s one thing to perform in Las Vegas, but to tour with the show and play a new and different venue each night is definitely a defining moment in my career because this is the real thing.”
Stage of his life
On the title of the current chapter of his life, Shyllon said, “ New Beginnings.”
Superpower of choice
His superpower of choice would be “super-speed” because he is always in a rush.
Advice for young and emerging performers
For young and aspiring performers, he said, “Just go for it. Really put yourself out there. Try it! Even if you mess up, there is a lot of progress that comes with failure. As long as fail forward and often, you will figure out how to get back up and do it better next time.”
The digital age
On being a part of the digital age, he said, “I love it. I grew up with it. I was born in 1993 so I was in the last generation of people that got to experience life without the Internet, and then, I got to experience the boom of the Internet. It has been great; it is crazy how technology has taken over the world. Now, it is such an integral part of our everyday lives.”
“Living in this digital age, everything is so easy and so accessible,” he added.

Success
Regarding his definition of success, he shared, “Being able to look back at my life and looking at it with a smile. Success is not just the adventures and opportunities that I have in my life but also the people I bring along with me.”
