Richard Deere announced that he is filming a new sci-fi short movie. #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos has the scoop.

“The story is about a rescue,” he said. “A family is kidnapped by locals in a different planet. Space officers wants to rescue them. There will be a lot of Visual Effects involved, so all the post production I will do myself. We were lucky to get a lot of volunteers for acting, and even some stunts crew. We will have an epic face off between the wild locals vs the space officers, with lots of blaster plasma flying around,” he elaborated on its synopsis.

“I am starting this fundraiser so I can rent costumes, rent the green screen studio, prop rentals, gas to drive everyone to Topanga (the location of filming), and obviously food for everyone even though no one is being paid, I want to at least feed everybody. We were lucky to get the other location for free, a barn where the family is being held,” he said on social media.

“This is a short film that will be made by creatives who will use this work on their reels to get potential work. We are all volunteering our skills because we all believe this project has potential. You can help all of us to get further in our careers with a little donation. And I will name you as an Executive Producer (If you donate over $200), or producer on the credits (any donation),” he expressed.

“This is the beginning of something huge, we are all grateful for your help, specially in times like these where this industry is in the lowest it has been in so long. We might also enter the short film to film festivals, so who knows this is the start of a great partnership. Thank you,” he said, effusively.

Later this month, Richard Deere will be competing for Mister USA, where he will be representing the state of Georgia. The finals will take place on August 31st at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California.
