American swimmer Jack Alexy has a major reason to be proud. He won the silver medal for Team USA in the men’s 100 meter freestyle race at the 2023 World Aquatic Championships, which are held in Fukuoka, Japan. #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos has the recap.
Alexy finished in second place in the men’s 100 meter freestyle race with a time of 47.31 seconds, which is a new personal best for the 20-year-old American. He was right behind Australian Kyle Chalmers, who clocked 47.15 seconds.
Alexy swam in Lane 8, and he joins such U.S. swimmers as Caeleb Dressel, Dave Walters, and Ryan Held as the only Americans to go under the 47.5 second mark.
On his swim, Alexy remarked, “I’m pretty happy to come back after that semifinal swim, getting messed up at the start. I knew I had a little chance of medaling or even winning that event. I’m very happy that I did, and I made myself proud.”
This marked Alexy’s first individual medal at these World Championships in Fukuoka. He won a bronze medal as part of the 4 x 100 meter relay race with Team USA, which he shared with his fellow teammates Ryan Held, Chris Guiliano, and Matt King.
