An Entrepreneur’s Approach To Losing 100lbs Permanently – Stephen Campolo

Over the years, you’ve probably heard your fair share of wacky weight loss advice, whether it’s to drink celery juice every day or replace your meals with weight loss “cookies.” And often, those tips are promoted by people without any health expertise. But just as there’s a ton of misguided weight loss advice out there to be avoided, there are also a lot of legitimate, research-backed and expert-approved suggestions. Most weight loss programs were created by people who have never lost any weight. But I was overweight, and after losing over 100 pounds, I’ve discovered the secrets to getting shredded and staying lean forever.

As a successful career professional or entrepreneur, it’s essential that your weight-loss plan fits into your busy life. If you find yourself thinking you just don’t have the time to devote to a diet and exercise plan, I can show you how weight loss can fit into your lifestyle, no matter how busy your days are.  You’ve got meetings, clients, travel, business lunches, and dinners. No time for counting calories, hours at the gym, or weight loss meetings. This is not a quick fix, but an energizing, fun and inspiring journey that will lead to permanent weight loss.

Here’s what it takes.

Getting it Right with Diet

The mere sound of the word “diet” makes me cringe – and I’m sure I’m not alone. For many, it represents restrictions, which is an immediate ground for resistance. My personal and professional experience is that diets don’t work. Or if they do, they only work for a short while, and that’s because most individuals eat so poorly that any kind of structured meal planning will have a beneficial effect…for a limited time.

But after the first couple of weeks of dieting, which mostly results in water loss, the downward trend of the scale begins to level out, and the rules begin to feel too restrictive. Before you know it, you’re eating the way you used to. Not only do the pounds that you lost begin to reappear, but often an additional 15 percent of that lost poundage along with it! In the long run, if you lost 20 pounds, you’re now three pounds heavier then when you began!

The relationship we have with our food is one of the most intimate relationships we’ll have in our lifetime. Think about it – when we eat, we merge with our food. Through the digestive process, our food is absorbed into our blood, flows through our organs and literally becomes who we are and even what we think. That’s why my job is such a delicate one.

Know the Right Exercise for Your Body Type

Are you exercising? Exercise helps to alkalize the body, gets the endorphins going and allows oxygen to penetrate the blood cells. Very often, exercise is all one needs to drop the few pounds they are looking to lose. However, if you are 65 years old, and have never done a day of exercise, don’t go off and join the first kickboxing class that comes along. Your current lifestyle and your likes and dislikes are the basis upon which you should develop a plan that will realistically work for you.

Take a look around your gym, and you’ll probably see people who are doing the same cardio routines, day after day, without gaining noticeable improvements in their body shape or composition. Maybe you’re one of them. When, every once in a while, someone shows up with an enviously sculpted body, you may wonder: What are they doing differently?

The answer is: They’re probably training the right way for their body type — something only 30 percent of people doing.

Each of us has a genetic and physiological design that determines our body type, or somatotype, and different body types have different responses to certain fitness programs. Very few people see themselves accurately — in my experience, about 50 percent of people misclassify their body type. Some endomorphs (who generally have a larger bone structure with wider hips, narrower shoulders, and more pear-shaped bodies) may believe they’re mesomorphs (who have naturally muscular, athletic builds). Meanwhile, some ectomorphs (who tend to be lean and slender with a small to medium frame and relatively long limbs) may identify themselves as endomorphs, especially if they have a soft midsection. In most instances, body types lie on a spectrum, which means that you could have a dominant body type with a few characteristics of another one or a body type that has qualities that are evenly divided between two different ones. I know from experience that somebody types are usually a result of behavior, not genetics, which means they can be improved with a healthier diet and exercise regimen.
