Sean Baker’s “Anora” clinched the prestigious Palme d’Or, marking the first time since 2011 that an American film received this honor. Jury Prize and Best Actress: “Emilia Pérez”

Jacques Audiard’s “Emilia Pérez” received the Jury Prize. This unique musical narrative centers on a Mexican lawyer (Zoe Saldaña) who aids a cartel leader, Manitas (Karla Sofía Gascón), in transitioning to a new life as Emilia Pérez. The film’s innovative storytelling and powerful performances earned it critical acclaim. The festival also bestowed Honorary Palme d’Or awards upon George Lucas, Meryl Streep, and Studio Ghibli, acknowledging their monumental contributions to the film industry. Meryl Streep’s emotional acceptance reflected on her illustrious career and the significance of this recognition.
